The historical layers in the city center of Antakya have been covered and limited over the centuries. Even the Orontes River, which is the subject of mythology, was compressed by retaining walls and forced into a new form. Street textures and structures with historical identity have been ignored or destroyed. Bringing back these suppressed values ​​within the scope of this project is the most important goal.
Within the scope of the Antakya Köprübaşı Square Urban Design Competition, the main decision taken on a large scale is that the historical city center should be pedestrian-oriented. Under this decision, road sections were reconsidered. Bicycle paths, wide walking paths, bioswale and green axes following the river have been created.

Cultural and local routes have been determined in order to strengthen the communication of the square with the city. The traces of the city that have not survived from the past have been brought to light again. The square has been transformed into the activity area of ​​the city center and establishes a strong relationship with the river. With the selected local plants, the scorching effect of Hatay's hot climate on urban spaces has been tried to be reduced.
